Born into a musical family, Dean was six years of age when he first performed in eisteddfodau throughout Wales. A boy soprano with a rich, sweet tone, he frequently found himself in demand for church services, weddings and local concerts.

Whilst a teenager he developed his love for singing coupled with work in the acting profession and performed regularly in light opera, musicals, classical drama and later in two acclaimed feature films for the BBC. He also reached Grade Eight level on piano with the London College of Music Examination Board. For more than four years he was the lead vocalist and compere of an 18-piece big band called Sync or Swing that frequently performed in jazz clubs, cabaret and music festivals throughout the UK and released a CD before disbanding in 1996.
In April 1989 Dean joined the tenor section of the world-famous Treorchy Male Choir and has since performed in more than 500 engagements throughout the world. In 1992 he became their regular tenor soloist and has since appeared in many of the world's greatest concert halls and cathedrals. During the past twenty years he has appeared as a chorister with a whole host of international entertainers, including Bryn Terfel, Dame Shirley Bassey, Michael Ball, Sir Tom Jones, Dennis O'Neill, Sir Harry Secombe, and the Halle Orchestra and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Dean has enjoyed the opportunity of making solo recordings with EMI Records on three of the choir's popular albums and more recently appeared on their ABC recording "Live In Australisa".
He has undertaken five concert tours of the United States of America, Australia and Canada as a soloist. In 2009 he performed in all 20 concerts as soloist with the Treorchy Male Choir on their tour of Australia and New Zealand, taking the Sydney Opera House by storm.

Dean remains in much demand as a soloist for several other male voice choirs and chorale societies. Recently he recorded the theme song to a BBC Radio Wales sports programme. Although originally a tenor, he now feels equally at home with a baritone repertoire that allows him an even greater variety of music to choose from. His concert programme includes light opera, hymns, Irish, Scottish, English and Welsh folk tunes and more modern arrangements from stage and screen.

Dean remains available for a number of special functions, whether church weddings, civil partnerships, Christenings or funerals, offering his own inimitable style of dignified performance to suit all occasions.
He regularly performs at a number of special ceremonies where he is often accompanied by either a harpist or pianist – either of which can also be obtained by him in advance. Dean often performs with piano accompanist Helen Roberts and harpist Bethan Myfanwy Hughes, whose website can be visited at www.bethanmyfanwy.co.uk.
Remembering a loved one in a funeral service by hearing a special song performed in their honour can also be recognized as a lasting tribute to those we have loved and lost. Performances can be accompanied by a harp or organ, or even unaccompanied depending on preference.
